About Founder/Podcast Host:
Hello, my name is John Ochira and I immigrated to Maine in the mid-2000s as a teenager. Originally from what is now know as South Sudan, my family fled to Uganda in the late 90's to seek refuge and opportunities for a better life. Today, more than 25 years after leaving my home country, I find myself building a career and a family in Maine, the place I have called home for the past 19 years!

I started this podcast and blog partly to help me look back at my own journey and find courage and strength to face today’s challenges and the wisdom to prepare for tomorrow.
I hope this podcast and blog will also help other immigrants reflect on their journeys individually and collectively as a community.

I want to use my voice as a force for good. By creating the space for a wholesome and ongoing conversation, I believe that I will help other immigrants (and in a way, myself) reflect, learn and contribute to their communities.
